According to Hindu mythology, Treta Yuga is associated with the reign of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu. The epic Ramayana is believed to have taken place during this age. It tells the story of Lord Rama's journey, his battles against evil forces, and his embodiment of righteousness and dharma (moral duty).

The duration of Treta Yuga is believed to be 1,296,000 years, which is three-quarters the length of Satyuga. As each Yuga progresses, the moral and spiritual qualities of humanity continue to decline, leading to subsequent ages of lesser righteousness and harmony.
